"Coast Road is the best journey in finding what's most important in our lives.   I love the story ...  how Ms Delinsky told the story is so real and scary also.   I am in the medical field, and I have seen patients with this kind of condition, wherein there their family are worried when will they ever wake up.   However, I just like to comment regarding a part wherein it was described that rachel had no eye openning, no verbal response and no motor movement - this means that she was in comatose and nothing would be worse than that becuase it is the lowest grade for GCS. the inconsistency there is that ones the GCS is 3 this means that the patient is brain dead. that would means a mechanical ventilator must be used for support. however, there are still those patient with GCS of 3 can be aroused and the score will increase to more than 3 in a period of time, which may take months. i think it would be more realistic if she had motor movements upon stimuli by extension or flexion,a corneal refex. i had patients who had head injuries that may not need surgical intervention and are usually restless and disoriented, and those who are gcs of 3 are not usually surgical because they are already brain dead.BUT THEN WE DO BELIEVE IN MIRACLE, DONT WE? I DO. but still i love the story. i suggested my friends to read it and i know they will love it as much as i did. thanks more power. right now i am reading shades of grace. i am starting to love it!!! "I've just finihed reading this book...and all I could really say that it is really a tear jerker ..I mean I just can't stop those tears falling into my eye's ...especially to those part when hope and Jack were having a father and daughter conversation...Jack is such remarkable character in this novel...he is the ideal friend, father and husband...I mean he isn't the perfect guy but he is the right guy....I really recommend this book to all readers, especially to those who are parents and who would be parents....This story is something that gives us a reflection to our second chance to life and to correct our mistakes that we have done in the past..."

"I thought this book was a great book. I really thought that Barbara Delinsky put a lot of emotion in the male character. That was quite different, but I liked it. In fact, I loved this book so much that I didn't want it to end. "
— DE, Yukon, OK

"I absolutely loved this book! I haven't read a book in so long and my mother talked me into reading this one! I felt like I was in Big Sur! I cried and laughed! I have since then read Suddenly and loved it too! Your writing is so descriptive and enjoyable! Thanks for helping me enjoy reading again! "

It is a beautifully written novel. It makes you think about family, and what you give up when you choose to leave it. I really, really love this book!! "

"I started this book on Saturday morning and finished it late that night. I loved reading a story of this type from the male perspective. I loved watching Jack evolve from the beginning to the end of the story. Shed a few tears reading this one. Great read! "

"This was my first ever Barbara Delinsky book. WOW, I am hooked. I actually wanted to read it over. I was on vacation and had another book to start but was not interested. I had to go to a used book store to find more! I have only been home a week and am on my fourth book! These books make me feel good inside! "
— JT, Rockford, IL

"Delinsky's fiction is so naturally and seamlessly real that I have finally, with COAST ROAD, decided to quit trying to pick out what works about her writing techniques, and to allow myself to just "be there." Almost as cathartic as the regeneration of the soul-link between Jack and Rachael was the transformation of 15-year-old Samantha from a brat into an appealingly gutsy young woman. What I admire most about this novel, though, is that it is told from a man's point-of-view, showing how tremendous emotional growth could occur in even the most Macho Male. "
— LS, Hotchkiss, CO

"This just may be my all-time favorite book ever. The descriptions of the Big Sur area bring a feeling of peace that is so addicting that I will sometimes read this book just for those descriptions. But I'm a sucker for the story line as well. I love that it comes from the man's point of view. I like the struggle of overcoming the love of money and power for the love of family and peace. I like the use of art and nature and remembering simple pleasures. This book is the perfect antidote when I am feeling the pressure to "succeed." It's a reminder of what is truly important in life. "
— SL, Colorado Springs, CO

"I so enjoyed your support of family values and the focus of what is really important. It was a novel filled with suspense, love of friends and family. Leave it to you - once again - you did it right!"
— EK, Juno Beach, FL

"It took me awhile to read COAST ROAD - it made me think. It was such an unusual way to tell the story of a marriage. I really liked this book. ... So much in your stories are like real people - the thoughts, feelings and emotions that real people have in their everyday lives."
— LM, Lilburn, GA

"I admire your writing and enjoy the books because the characters and emotions are realistic. ... As with your other books, I could not stop reading [COAST ROAD] and finished it in a day. When I finished the book, my single thought was Wow!"
— S. E-N., Arvado, CO

"I think the strength of this book is in your characters and your presentation of them. Each has a distinct personality and is fully drawn. ... As always, I am impressed with your research. I just KNOW every medical detail has been checked and rechecked."
— G.W., Chicago

"The thing I like best about this novel is that we get to watch a man learn about a woman. Even though Jack has been married to Rachel for several years, is father to her two children and has maintained a civil yet distant relationship with her for 6 years of divorce, he really doesn't know this woman at all. He has to learn about her hopes, her dreams, her lifestyle, and simply about her through her friends and her children. The people themselves tell as much about Rachel as their words and it is a nicely executed book that can pull off the layers of a person slowly and allow such discovery."
