"This is the first book of Barbara's that I have read. I love to read and become uneasy if I do not have a book nearby waiting to be read when I finish the one I am reading. Looking for Peyton Place fascinated me as I remember Peyton Place the TV show and loved it. The strength of Annie Barnes and the experiences that drove her to be who she was hit home. I could hardly put this book down and cannot wait to read the next Barbara Delinsky book. The strength of women, the strength of love and family, and the politics of small town life makes this book complex and real. Loved it. "

"There are so many reasons why I enjoyed this book, and living through the 1960s TV Show of Peyton Place was only a minute part of my enjoyment. I felt like I knew all the characters. Great reading! "

"I love your books! This one took awhile to hook me but I tell you once it did it was line & sinker all the way. I couldn't put it down and many times it fell down as I fell - asleep. Hurray for Annie and James. On to my Barbara library for my next story. "

"I absolutely loved Looking for Peyton Place! I was so drawn to Annie and the struggles she felt both internally and externally. From the very beginning I felt Annie's distaste for her home town and the people in it. And I could feel her pain over losing her mother. I loved the way the story developed and the way people were leery and then accepting of Annie. The way James interacted with Annie was a wonderful way to show differences in towns and families. Looking forward to your next book! "

"I read this book last summer and when I was finished, I missed the characters. That's how well Barbara Delinsky creates community within the small towns that serve as settings of her books. LOOKING FOR PEYTON PLACE was intriguing, engaging, and entertaining. I enjoyed it! "

"I can't imagine anyone giving a bad review to any of Barbara's books. I read this one from cover to cover in a week, which is amazing for me. I am a slow reader. I was intriqued, and it held my attention. It didn't leave me wondering like other books have. I found that THE SUMMER I DARED I related to more, as I am turning 40 and asking those questions of what have I accomplished, who am I? But I loved the book, and can't wait to share it with my mom. "

"This book has it all. Heartache and joy. Sickness and death. Rumors and ugly little secrets. In digging for the truth Annie discovers more then she probably wanted to know, but gains insight to the workings of the town she grew up in and left behind in hopes of never coming back. Awesome page turner. I felt all her emotions very strongly. "

"I loved LOOKING FOR PEYTON PLACE and the character Annie. Because of your book, Barbara, you picqued my curiosity to read the orignal and to see the movie with Lana Turner. I found the original book at a yard sale for 25 cents in mint condition. Thank you for leading to a classic that I might have otherwise not ever read. I am 42 so Peyton Place was when I was quite young. I love your books, your ideas, and the person you are! "

"I read it some time ago when it first came out. I enjoyed it tremendously. I could relate to the kid from a stiffling small town going off to start her career never intending to return. the returning and seeing her home place in a new light. I also liked the environmental issues that were covered. Great job! "

"I loved LOOKING FOR PEYTON PLACE. I never read Peyton Place, so for me this was just another adventure. By the time I got done with it, I was very interested in Grace and went out and got a copy! I loved the "disfunction" of the town and the Barnes sisters. Coming from a small town where everyone knew your business I could relate to much of the story. It was touching how they were able to come together and learn to trust each other. And of course, the other story lines with the teenagers believing Annie had seen what they had done and knew for sure she was going to write about them, and not just them, the whole town, made it very interesting! So often assumptions are made and they are so off base. I laughed and cried. As usual, Barbara turned out another brillian read! I can't wait for Family Tree! "

""Looking for Peyton Place" is a beautiful example of how much Barbara Delinsky has grown as an author from her early romance days writing under the names Billie Douglass and Bonnie Drake. "Looking for Peyton Place" is definitely not a category romance. It is a hard hitting novel that deals with issues of today including corporation pollution and mercury poisoning. But these tough issues are surrounded by the story dealing with families and coming again to the place that Annie Barnes struggled so hard to get away from. The reader definitely gets caught up in Annie's fight to hold on to who she is and to reconnect with her sisters. Barbara's clever intertwining of Grace Metalious' "Peyton Place" into her story brings fond memories to all of the readers who remember the original book and all the controversey around it. This is a must read book not only for Barbara Delinsky fans but for both men and women who like a really good story with great plot and character development. "

"LOOKING FOR PEYTON PLACE was an awesome book. The incredible detail of the story kept me riveted to the book. The story line about environmental issues was extremely interesting to me as I worked 8 years in the Environmental Consulting industry in Hazardous Waste Assessment and Cleanup.
Keep up the great writing. You will always have a fan here. "

"Being from small town Iowa and only being 25 years old. I wasn't sure I would totally enjoy Looking for Peyton Place. Of course I was totally WRONG! I loved it! I do not remember anything about the book Peyton Place and barely recall the t.v. show. I went into the book with no prejudgments or expectations. Barbara's book made me feel like I had already read Peyton Place, I was so caught up in the book I couldn't stop reading it! Great job on this one! Now of course I have to go read the first Peyton Place just to say I did!!! "

"Having NEVER read Peyton Place, and being 48 years old, I may be able to bring a new prospective to a review. I have read all of your books and I found this riveting. I do like the fact that, being from New England, I can recognize places you write about, but this added a touch of "history" to your book, including Grace's history. I never knew she was from NH! Guess what the next book is that I will read? Give up? Peyton Place! "

"Barbara has done it once again! I could identify with Annie Barnes so much that it scared me. All of the characters were developed well. I particularly liked Kaitlin and how she stood by Annie and stood up to her (Kaitlin's) mother, Nicole. James Meade, Tom Martin and Greg were strong, positive influences in Annie's life. Annie's story was real to life as were the people in her life. Thank you again Barbara for writing a wonderful story. "

"I have just completed reading LOOKING FOR PEYTON PLACE. What a gripping story you have created with such wonderful developing relationships. Annie's conversations with Grace are both funny and plaintive. I remember when Peyton Place was published and all the conversation that it created. Your book will no doubt do the same. The info on mercury poisoning is invaluable. Thanks as always for your creativity. "

"I just finished "Looking for Peyton Place" and yes, you have done it again. What a great story and inspiration to anyone who thinks they don't quite measure up. I now want to read Peyton Place again - it came out when I was in high school and I was absolutely forbidden to read it BUT eventually about 1960 I was able to read and enjoy it. There was so much truth in the book about the 50's era! Thanks again for keeping me up nights!!!!!! "

"I just finished reading "Looking for Peyton Place". I absolutely loved it. I am sure as I live and breathe that my town was the model for Peyton Place. Everyone knew everything about everyone else in my small town, even though we all thought we were keeping secrets.
I loved all the characters, but Annie, James and Mia will always have a place in my heart. Annie's truths are some of my favorite lines in the book, they apply no matter where you are from, if you are from a small town.
Barbara, you have outdone yourself! I read this book so fast the first time, I couldn't help myself. I inhaled it! But I will go back to it and read it slowly, and this time I will savor it, like a good wine or a good meal.
Thanks, Barbara for being the writer you are.

"I just finished this wonderful book. Being that I'm 34 I don't remember Peyton Place but I will be reading it next. But I can't imagine that it's better than this. Barbara's telling of this beautiful story just makes me want to live this myself. Thank you for such a wonderful book! "

"Thanks to Barbara for helping to keep interest in Grace Metalious alive in this world. When I received LOOKING FOR PEYTON PLACE today, I flew through the prologue and afterward with the same intensity that I first read Peyton Place so many years ago. I can hardly wait to recommend LOOKING FOR PEYTON PLACE to my friends who gobbled up Peyton Place like ice cream on a summers day. "

"I absolutely loved this book. I could not put it down. I am a part-time bookseller at Waldenbooks and I will highly recommend this book to our customers. I'm calling my mom today to tell her. I hope you write a return and tell us how Middle River is doing now. Thanks for writing a great read! "

"I bought this book on July 12. Barbara has a strong protagonist and has done a superb job working with the "voice" of the protagonist, the "voice" of Grace. When Barbara includes e-mails, one knows which person is "speaking" in writing. The book is informative-the mercury poisoning...wow...What research this book must have taken. Great writing. This book must go on FICTION shelves, not just Romance. It is so much more...Congrats Barbara... "

"Excellent book, and I really enjoy your work. I like the growth your characters go through, while not shying from the idea that not all of us grow, or indeed are capable of evolution. Thanks for another great effort. It was a pleasure to read. "

"An excellent read, and a timely story which gets under way with the help of one dead author muse, one "semi-wrong-side-of-the- tracks" heroine looking for closure after the death of her mother, the ruling mill-town family who want to keep the status quo, and the town she loves, despite its poor treatment of her in the past. There's a mystery afoot, but the mystery (although wonderfully done) is not the whole gist of the story. There's the human angle, and the fears we all face when the self we re-fashion as adults meets with the self we were before we had the power to re-invent. Ms. Delinsky grows with each offering, and really broadens her appeal. Still, she never goes far from her roots, love is the answer, whether between men and women, communities, medicine, friendships, etc... human interaction. Well done, well written, very much enjoyed. Thank-you. "

"No one will be disappointed in this book even if you haven't read the original Peyton Place. I stayed up entirely too late last night reading this book. The characters in the book leap off the page, and you'll love the chemistry between Annie and James. The ending, too, is really good. This is probably my favorite book that Barbara Delinsky has written. "
