Healing Tears Sunday, April 13, 2008 |
"For several weeks, I cried and cried. One particularly bad night, a woman I'd never met called and asked how I was doing. 'Not so good,' I said. 'I can't stop crying. When will I stop crying and feeling sorry for myself?' She said, 'One day, it will just stop. You'll be okay. We all need time to mourn, time to be sad, and it's okay to cry.' She went on to tell me about how she cried a lot at first. She gave all her clothes away except a housedress, skirt and blouse. Days, weeks, months went by. She didn't die, but she had no clothes! That was twenty years ago. That night, I began to heal – laughing for the first time in a long, long time. That night, I learned tears are okay. Tears are a part of healing. " |
